What exactly is 316L stainless steel?
Stainless steel 316L is a stainless steel alloy renowned for its corrosion resistance and hypoallergenic properties, making it particularly suitable for jewelry. This versatile material is both durable and aesthetically pleasing, offering excellent value for money.

Properties and benefits:
Corrosion resistance: This is arguably the most well-known characteristic of 316L stainless steel. It exhibits excellent resistance to seawater, chlorine, chemicals, and perspiration. This makes it an ideal material for everyday jewelry, even in harsh environments.
Hypoallergenic: Being highly hypoallergenic, it does not contain nickel, a metal often responsible for skin allergies. Therefore, it's an excellent choice for individuals with sensitive skin.
Strength and durability: 316L stainless steel is highly resistant to scratches and impacts. Your jewelry will thus retain its luster for a long time.
Easy to care for: this material requires no special care. Simply clean it with soapy water and a soft cloth to restore its shine.
Modern and elegant appearance: 316L stainless steel offers a bright and modern look that suits all styles. It pairs well with other materials such as leather or ceramic.
What is PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) coating?
PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) is an advanced technology that has revolutionized the jewelry industry, particularly for stainless steel jewelry. This technique involves depositing an extremely thin layer of another metal onto the surface of the jewelry, creating a finish that is both aesthetically pleasing and protective.

How does PVD work?
The PVD process takes place in a vacuum chamber where the metal to be deposited is vaporized into ions. These ions are then directed towards the piece to be coated, where they deposit layer by layer. The thickness of this layer is extremely small, on the order of a few micrometers.

Properties and benefits:
Increased durability: The PVD coating adheres strongly to the steel surface, providing additional protection against scratches, impacts, and oxidation. Your jewelry will therefore retain its shine for longer.
Wide range of colors: PVD allows for a very wide range of colors, from classic gold and rose gold to more original colors like black, blue, or purple.
Corrosion resistance: The coating enhances the natural corrosion resistance of steel, making it particularly suitable for everyday jewelry.
Environmentally friendly: The PVD process is less polluting than traditional plating techniques, making it a more environmentally friendly option.
Hypoallergenic: The metals used for PVD are generally inert and do not cause allergies.

Different grades of PVD quality:
Several factors can influence the quality and properties of a PVD coating. The main criterion is the type and amount of metal deposited. Gold, titanium, carbon, and titanium nitride are the most commonly used metals for PVD coatings on jewelry. The greater the thickness, the more resistant the coating will be. The temperature and pressure in the deposition chamber also influence the density and adhesion of the coating.
All ROCHET stainless steel 316L jewelry is finished with a grade A PVD treatment (the best) which guarantees excellent durability.

uses

Is your jewellery suitable for everyday wear?
Yes, our jewellery is designed to be worn every day.
It is made to withstand your daily activities whilst retaining its beauty.
However, like all jewellery, it requires a little care to keep it looking its best over time.
Is your jewellery water-resistant?
Every material has its own environment!
Stainless steel and natural stone jewellery are water-resistant.
However, gold PVD and black PVD finishes will deteriorate more quickly if they come into daily contact with water.
To preserve the original appearance of your jewellery, we recommend:
- avoiding prolonged immersion
- removing it before swimming in the sea or a swimming pool.

Leather jewellery must under no circumstances be exposed to splashes of water or immersed.

Jewelry Maintenance

How should I look after my leather jewellery?
Here are some tips to preserve your leather jewelry and maximize its lifespan:
- your jewelry does not like prolonged exposure to moisture. Remove it before swimming, showering, or practicing water activities
- avoid any contact with perfume, oils, creams, or chemical products that could stain or dry out the leather
remove your jewelry before exercising, using a hammam, or going to a sauna, as perspiration and heat may damage the leather
- avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight or high temperatures in order to preserve the leather’s softness and color
- avoid bending or twisting your jewelry excessively to prevent weakening the leather
- clean it regularly with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and perspiration
- when needed, use a small amount of leather care lotion or conditioner to nourish the leather and maintain its flexibility
store your jewelry away from humidity, ideally in a pouch or box when not being worn
How should I look after my natural stone jewellery?
The natural stones used are particularly durable and will retain their shine over the years. Mounted on a stretch elastic cord for comfort and ease of wear, our bracelets remain strong for everyday use.

However, even when made with high-quality materials, the elastic cord is naturally more sensitive to wear over time than the stones themselves, which will outlast you. To preserve its strength for as long as possible, we recommend avoiding excessive stretching when putting the bracelet on, as well as repeated contact with chlorine, seawater, chemicals, or high heat. Removing your bracelet before swimming or exercising will also help extend its lifespan.

Jewelry size

How do I adjust the size of my necklace/pendant?
All ROCHET necklaces and pendants are equipped with an adjustable extension chain that allows the length to be adjusted. Their standard length is generally 50 cm. The extension chain allows up to an additional 5 cm.
How do I choose the right size for a necklace/pendant?
Men’s necklaces generally range from 40 to 55 cm, depending on the desired style.
Please refer to our size guide to find the measurement that suits you best, based on your neck size and the style you are looking for.
How to choose the right ring size?
Please refer to our Size Guide.
How do I adjust my bracelet size?
There are 4 types of fit for ROCHET bracelets:
- Natural stone bracelets on elastic cord: the stretch of the elastic allows you to slip the bracelet on without opening it and adapt it to your wrist size. Resting size: 19 cm. Suitable for wrist sizes from 16 to 21 cm.
- Chain link bracelets with adjustment chain: their length is generally 20.5/21.5 cm. The extension chain allows up to an additional 5 cm. Suitable for wrist sizes from 17 to 22 cm.
- Bracelets with extension clasp: their length is generally 20.5/21.5 cm. The extension clasp allows an extra 1.5 to 2 cm depending on the clasp type. Suitable for wrist sizes from 17 to 22 cm.
- Link bracelets: These bracelets are typically 20.5–22 cm long. They are assembled using pins—small metal rods that hold the links together and allow for size adjustment. Upon request, we can remove links from your bracelet to adjust the size as closely as possible to your measurements. To do this, please provide your wrist circumference in cm in the comments section of your order.

features

There are so many subjects... where to start?
Every material has its own purpose. Choose one that suits your watch and your style.

Leather: elegant, timeless, perfect for everyday wear. Options include calfskin, lizard, ostrich, and alligator...
Rubber: sporty, durable, water-resistant, ready for action. Made of silicone, FKM...
Nylon / NATO: lightweight, flexible, versatile, easy to change
Metal: structured, bold, built to last.
What is a padded (bombé) watch strap?
Some straps are completely flat, with a more or less thick construction that can vary between the body and the tip of the strap.
“Padded” or “bombé” straps have a thicker central section between the stitching lines, creating a raised profile. The padding can be more or less pronounced, with either a square or rounded shape.
If your watch case is slim, choose a flat strap.
If your watch case is thick, choose a strap with a generous curve that will look more balanced with the watch.
What is “grooving” (edge decoration) on a watch strap?
Grooving on a watch strap refers to creating a decorative line along the stitching or on the keepers, using a heated tool.
What are the different types of leather finishes?
Each leather can have a different appearance.
Smooth leathers are, by definition, smooth and can be more or less shiny.
Nubuck leathers are leathers whose surface has been lightly sanded, giving them a softer, velvety feel.
Grained leathers feature a raised texture or pattern. The grain may be natural or machine-finished to achieve a uniform texture across the entire hide.
Will the strap soften over time?
Our bracelets are known for being very supple, offering immediate comfort when worn.
Since leather bracelets are made from animal hide, they become even more supple over time and mold to the shape of your wrist.
Are the strap colors true to the photos?
We take our photos in a studio with the best possible rendering.
However, screens or printed materials may sometimes slightly alter the actual color of the strap.
Is the watch strap leather genuine?
We only use genuine leather, sourced from tanneries that we have carefully selected.
Are leather watch straps handmade?
Yes, all of our leather bracelets are handmade. While we do use some machines to finish the leather or sew the bracelet, even in those cases, the stitching is not done by a sewing robot but by a skilled leather craftsman.
What is the difference between a cut-edge and a turned-edge watch strap?
A cut-edge strap means the leather edges (the sides) are simply cut. They are usually painted in the same colour as the upper leather, but they can also be a different colour.
During the making of a turned-edge strap, the upper leather is wrapped around the edges and then glued onto the underside of the strap. This creates edges that are a natural continuation of the upper leather.
What is the lining of a watch strap?
The lining is the underside of a leather strap—the part that comes into contact with your skin.
We offer a variety of linings, all made of genuine leather: cowhide, calfskin, or lambskin.
What is the lifespan of a leather watch strap?
The lifespan of a leather watch strap worn every day generally ranges from 6 to 18 months, but it depends greatly on several factors.

The main factors that affect its lifespan are:

Sweat: it is leather’s number one enemy (especially in summer or during sports)
Water and humidity: leather does not handle moisture well at all
Frequency of use: wearing the same strap every day significantly accelerates wear
Maintenance: lightly conditioning the leather with a suitable balm can extend its lifespan
Build quality: type of leather + stitching + lining

The best way to extend the lifespan of a watch strap is to rotate it with other straps (leather, synthetic, or metal), just as you do with your shoes.

compatibility

Can I keep my original buckle?
Yes of course. To do so, you need to carefully measure the width of your buckle (in mm, measured from the inside width of the buckle).
Our straps are designed to be compatible with most pin buckles and deployment clasps.
How do I know if a strap is compatible with my watch?
Most watches are compatible with a ROCHET strap.
However, you must ensure that:
- Your original strap is straight where it attaches to the watch case.
- Your original strap is secured to the case by a small metal pin (pivot pin)

Our straps are not compatible if the end of your strap on the case side is:
- curved: it follows the rounded shape of the case.
- notched or slotted: the strap links have an opening in the center or on the sides to allow them to fit a specific case.
 - with an insert: a strap with an insert has a specific built-in piece that allows the strap to fit perfectly to the case, with no gap between the strap and the watch.

assembly

Is it difficult to change a watch strap yourself?
Not at all. It’s actually much simpler than you might think.

Your new bracelet is equipped with the D'Clic system, which allows you to install it without tools. Simply pull the small metal tab on the left to retract the pin, then release it so it slides into the slot on the watch case.
Is the strap delivered with D'clic spring bars?
All our straps are delivered with interchangeable spring bars (D’clic), allowing you to change your strap yourself without any tools.
How do I know if my watch has interchangeable D’clic spring bars?
Simply turn your strap over and check whether it has two small levers at the lugs.
This allows you to change your strap without tools.

Bracelet size

How to choose the right bracelet size?
To choose the right size for a men’s bracelet, it is best to start by measuring your wrist and then adding an adjustment depending on the desired style. Begin by measuring your wrist using a measuring tape, just above the wrist bone, without tightening. If you don’t have a tape measure, you can use a string or a strip of paper, then measure it against a ruler.

Next, add extra length depending on the desired fit:

Adding 0.5 to 1 cm: close fit, for a sleek and discreet look
Adding 1 to 1.5 cm: standard comfort, the bracelet moves slightly on the wrist
Adding 1.5 to 2 cm: looser and more relaxed style

Refer to the measurement chart in our size guide.

Important note: almost all of our bracelets are adjustable in size thanks to elastic cords, adjustment chains, adjustable clasps, or removable links.

I have a rather large/small wrist, how do I choose the right length?
We offer different leather strap lengths depending on their width. For aesthetic reasons, the wider the strap, the longer it is.
Standard sizes for men are 115 x 80 mm. XL sizes are 120 x 80 mm or 125 x 90 mm.
For women, the most common size is 110 x 70 mm.
The choice also depends on the width of your strap.
What is the difference between case width and buckle width?
Some straps are called “straight”, meaning they have the same width at the watch case and at the buckle.
“Tapered” straps are wider at the case than at the buckle. The difference can be 2 or 4 mm.
